 팔레스타인 기독교 공동체는 2009년, 그리스도 안에서 믿음·소망·사랑으로 ‘카이로스 팔레스타인 선언문(Kairos Palestine Document, 이하 KPD)’을 발표해 전 세계교회에 연대를 요청했습니다. 이 문서를 통해 팔레스타인 기독교 공동체는 모든 폭력과 군사적 행위가 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받은 인간의 존엄성을 침해하는 행위임을 선언하며, 절망 가운데서도 여전히 희망의 끈을 놓지 않고(벧전 1:21), 정의로운 평화의 염원을 전 세계에 쏘아 올렸습니다. KPD 선언이 발표된 지 16주년이 될 2025년 11월, 팔레스타인 기독교 공동체는 현재 상황에 대한 인식과 새로운 제안을 담은 수정 문서를 발표해 전 세계교회에 다시금 연대를 호소할 예정입니다.

지난 10월 13일, 미국의 중재로 합의된 ”가자 평화 구상“ 1단계가 실행되었으나, 진정한 평화를 위한 2단계, 3단계 협상은 여전히 불확실한 상황입니다. 한국기독교교회협의회(이하 NCCK)는 휴전 합의를 환영하면서도, 이 합의가 일시적인 상황으로 그치지 않고 영구적 평화로 이어지기를 간절히 기도합니다. NCCK는 세계교회의 형제자매들과 함께 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 평화를 위해 오랫동안 연대해 왔습니다. NCCK는 모든 생명의 주관자가 하나님(욥 12:10)임을 고백합니다. 이는 갈등과 분열의 땅에 치유하고 화해시키는(골 3:13) 교회의 역할과, 그 땅에 영구적이고 정의로운 평화가 속히 임하기를 간절히 기도함으로 드러납니다.

예수 그리스도는 지금도 고통 받는 팔레스타인 공동체와 이스라엘의 평화를 위해 함께하고 있습니다. 선교적 사명을 지닌 한국교회(마 28:19~20)도 고통 받는 자들의 목소리가 되어야 합니다(롬 12:15). 한국교회가 그 땅 주민들의 고통을 외면하는 오류를 범하고 있지는 않은지 겸허히 성찰해 봅니다. 더불어, 동아시아의 한반도와 서아시아의 팔레스타인이 평화로 연대하는 것은 일제 강점기 독립운동과 한국전쟁, 민주주의와 인권을 위해 싸워 온 한국교회의 역사적 경험을 전 세계교회와의 연대로 넓히는 영적, 윤리적 책임이기도 합니다.

NCCK는 인고의 수난 속에서도 끈기 있게 생명을 지키는 팔레스타인 기독교 공동체에 깊은 연대와 사랑을 표합니다. 그리고 NCCK는 팔레스타인 기독교 공동체가 그 땅의 소금과 빛(마 5:13~14)의 역할을 계속하도록 기도와 연대를 담아 다음의 행동을 다짐합니다.

1. 우리는 필수 구호품이 가자지구 내 모든 주민에게 즉각적이고 안전하게 전달될 수 있도록 이스라엘과 국제사회의 협력을 촉구하는 동시에 인도주의적 지원을 위해 노력한다.
2. 우리는 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 평화를 촉구하는 ‘평화기도회’와 ‘평화예배’ 등의 활동을 지속적으로 진행한다.
3. 우리는 팔레스타인인들의 땅과 생명을 지키기 위해 매년 진행되고 있는 ‘팔레스타인 올리브트리 캠페인’에 적극적으로 참여하며, 회원교회와 성도들의 참여를 독려한다.

NCCK는 이 다짐을 전 세계 에큐메니칼 자매형제들에게 당부하며 연대를 요청하고자 합니다. 하나님의 몸인 우리는 더 나은 미래를 위해서 희망을 갖고 인내하며 행동해야 하는 동시에, 하나님께 우리의 희망을 두고(시 42:11) 함께 걷는 공동체이기 때문입니다. 소중한 이들을 잃은 슬픔과 여전히 불확실한 미래 앞에서의 두려움이 공존하고 있을 팔레스타인과 이스라엘의 모든 이들에게 진정한 평화와 화해가 찾아오기를 두 손 모아 봅니다.

In 2009, the Palestinian Christian Community issued the Kairos Palestine Document (KPD), a statement of faith, hope, and love in Christ, calling for solidarity from the globe. Through KPD, they declared that all violence and military actions violate the dignity of human beings created in the image of God. They also maintained hope even in despair (1 Peter 1:21) and sent a message of hope for just peace to the International Ecumenical Churches. In November 2025, the 16th anniversary of the KPD, they plans to issue a revised document, recognizing the current situation and offering new proposals, and once again appeal to the world for solidarity.

On this October 13th, the first phase of the "Gaza Peace Initiative," agreed upon through US mediation, was implemented. However, the second and third phases of negotiations for true just peace remain uncertain. The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) welcomes the recent ceasefire agreement and fervently prays that it will not be a temporary measure but will lead to the permanent peace. We have long stood in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the ecumenical network for peace between Palestine and Israel. We confess that God is the sovereign authority of all life (Job 12:10). This is demonstrated in the church's role as a healer and reconciler (Colossians 3:13) in a land of conflict and division, and in its sincere prayer for the permanent and just peace in that land.

Jesus Christ still stands with the suffering Palestinian community and seeks peace for Israel. The Korean Churches, with its Mission (Matthew 28:19-20), must also be a voice for those who suffer (Romans 12:15). We humbly reflect on whether the Korean Churches are making the mistake of turning a blind eye to the suffering of the people of that land. Furthermore, Solidarity for peace between the Korean Peninsula in East Asia and Palestine in West Asia is a spiritual and ethical responsibility that extends the Korean church's historical experience in the independence movement during the Japanese colonial period, the Korean War, and the struggle for democracy and human rights into solidarity with churches around the world.

NCCK expresses deep solidarity and love for the Palestinian Christian Community, which has persevered in preserving life despite arduous hardship. We pledge the following actions, expressing prayer and solidarity, so that the Palestinian Christian Community can continue to serve as the salt and light of the land (Matthew 5:13-14).

 
1. We urge cooperation between Israel and the international community to ensure the immediate and safe delivery of essential relief supplies to all residents of the Gaza Strip, while also striving to provide humanitarian assistance.
2. We continue to conduct activities such as the "Prayer" and "Worship service" to call for peace between Palestine and Israel.
3. We participate in the "World Olive Tree Campaign," held to protect the land and lives of Palestinians, and encourage the participation of our member Churches and congregations.

NCCK extends this statement to our ecumenical Sisters and Brothers around the world and requests their solidarity together. Because we are as the body of God, we must hope, persevere, and act for a better future, at the same time, be a community that walks together, placing our hope in God (Psalm 42:11). We pray for true peace and reconciliation for all those in Palestine and Israel, who grieve the loss of loved ones and fear the uncertain future that still exists.
