한국기독교교회협의회(NCCK, 회장 강연홍 목사, 총무 김종생 목사) 국제위원회(위원장 박원빈 목사)는 오늘 (10월 11일) 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 간 모든 폭력과 군사적 행위를 중단할 것을 강력히 촉구하며 긴급 성명을 발표했습니다.

팔레스타인과 이스라엘 땅의 모든 폭력과
군사적 행위를 즉각 중단할 것을 촉구합니다.
한국기독교교회협의회(NCCK)는 지금 이 순간 팔레스타인과 이스라엘에서 발생하고 있는 모든 폭력과 군사적 행위를 중단할 것을 강력히 촉구하며, 끝이 보이지 않는 갈등과 분열의 땅에서 무고하게 목숨을 잃은 모든 희생자들과 깊은 비탄 속에 있을 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 땅의 모든 사람들을 위해 간절히 기도하고 있습니다.
최근 언론 보도에 따르면 이미 해당 지역에서 발생한 사망자 수가 1천 900여명에 이르며 사상자는 7천여 명을 넘어서고 있습니다. 더 이상 무장 단체 간의 갈등이 고조될 시 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 지역민들 모두에게 초래될 비극적인 결과는 필연적일 것입니다. 무엇보다 해당 지역의 국적과 민족, 종교와 신앙을 넘어 민간인을 표적으로 삼는 군사적 도발과 살상행위는 용납될 수 없습니다. 뿐만 아니라 해당 지역 내 군사적 도발은 당사국을 비롯해 복잡한 지정학적 관계에 있는 국가들 간 분쟁으로 심화될 가능성이 매우 높으며, 이는 곧 세계 평화에 심대한 위협을 일으키는 결과를 초래할 수 있습니다. 양 지역의 정치지도자들은 지금 당장 무력충돌을 중단하고 즉각 대화에 나서야 하며 국제사회 또한 이스라엘과 팔레스타인 간 분쟁의 본질을 선명하게 파악하여 시급히 조치해야 할 것입니다.
평화의 길에 전쟁이란 있을 수 없습니다. 수많은 희생자를 낳는 살상과 해소될 수 없는 갈등과 반목, 증오를 양산하는 것은 죽음의 굴레에서 벗어날 수 없는 악순환을 낳을 뿐입니다. 지금 이 순간에도 예루살렘의 종교지도자들과 세계교회협의회(WCC)를 비롯한 전 세계 에큐메니칼 공동체가 팔레스타인과 이스라엘의 정의로운 평화가 임하기를 간절히 바라며 애타는 심정으로 함께 기도하고 있습니다.
우리는 무자비한 폭력이 난무하는 분쟁의 땅에서 인간의 존엄과 기본적인 권리마저 상실되어버린 채 고난의 시간을 걷고 있을 팔레스타인과 이스라엘의 사람들을 기억하며, 지금 즉시 해당 지역의 모든 무력충돌과 군사적 행위를 중단할 것을 다시 한번 강력히 촉구합니다.
한국기독교교회협의회는 계속해서 각 지역 곳곳에서 평화를 위해 일하는 전 세계 그리스도인들과 에큐메니칼 공동체 그리고 국제사회와 더불어 모든 생명을 귀하게 여기는 하나님나라의 가치와 인도주의에 기반한 모든 국제적 정당성에 비추어 정의롭고 지속적인 평화의 사도로서 우리의 사명을 다해 나갈 것입니다. 그리스도께서 주시는 평화의 영이 팔레스타인과 이스라엘 땅에 속히 임하시기를 기도합니다.

We call for an immediate cessation of all violence and
military clashes in Palestine and Israel.
The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) strongly calls for a cessation of all violence and military clashes occurring in Palestine and Israel at this moment, and fervently prays for all the victims who have lost their innocent lives in a land of conflict and division with no end in sight, and for all the people of the land of Palestine and Israel who are in deep grief.
According to recent media reports, the death toll in the region has already reached more than 1,900, with casualties exceeding 7,000. Any further escalation of the conflict between armed groups will inevitably have tragic consequences for both Palestinians and Israelis. Military provocations and killings targeting civilians across nationalities, ethnicities, religions and faiths in the region are unacceptable. Furthermore, military provocations in the region have the potential to escalate into conflicts between parties and countries with complex geopolitical relationships, posing a grave threat to global peace. Political leaders on both sides of the border must cease fire and engage in immediate dialogue, and the international community must act urgently with a clear understanding of the substance of the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
There is no place for war on the path to peace; it only creates a vicious cycle of killing that results in countless casualties and irreconcilable conflict, antagonism, and hatred. Even as we speak, religious leaders in Jerusalem and the ecumenical community around the world, including the World Council of Churches (WCC), are praying for peace between Palestine and Israel.
We remember the people of Palestine and Israel, who are walking through a critical time, bereft of human dignity and basic rights in a land of brutal violence and conflict, and once again strongly call for an immediate cessation of all armed conflict and military collision.
The National Council of Churches in Korea will continue to fulfill its mission as a mediator of just and lasting peace in the light of God's values of valuing all life and all international legitimacy based on humanitarianism, together with Christians, the ecumenical community and the international community working for peace in all regions of the world. We pray that God's spirit of peace and justice will rest upon the lands of Palestine and Israel.
