아시아기독교협의회Christian Conference of Asia 이하 CCA) 매튜스 죠지 추나카라 총무는 NCCK 72회 총회를 축하하며 지난 10월 인도 케랄라, 코타얌에서 열린 15차 CCA 총회는 한반도 화해와 평화 실현을 논의하는 자리이기도 했다는 점을 나누어 주시고, 향후 아시아 전 지역의 CCA 회원교회와 협의회(NCC)가 각 총회를 통해 한반도 종전과 평화 협정을 비롯한 한반도 평화를 위한 일에 적극 동참할 것을 거듭 강조하였습니다.
더불어 NCCK 100주년을 열얼가는 첫 발걸음 앞에 한국교회가 지나온 역사적 유산과 전통에 경의를 표하며 오늘날 인류가 마주한 기후와 생태계 위기 속에서 NCCK와 CCA를 비롯한 아시아 에큐메니칼 공동체가 세계 시민들과 더불어 창조세계 회복을 위해 보다 깊이 협력해 나갈 것을 요청하였습니다. 본 총회의 성공적인 개최를 위해 메시지를 나눠주신 매튜스 죠지 추나카라 총무님과 애쓰신 모든 CCA 스텝들께 다시 한 번 깊이 감사드립니다. 고맙습니다.

존경하는 한국교회와 에큐메니칼 공동체 모든 분들께 늘 감사드리며, 오늘 열리는 72차 NCCK 총회를 맞이하여 여러분께 인사드릴 수 있게 된 것을 무한한 기쁨과 영광으로 생각합니다.
2024년 창립 100주년을 앞두고 우리는 NCCK가 지난 수십 년 동안 한국 민중들의 민주화와 인권을 위한 투쟁 그리고 한반도 화해와 평화, 통일을 위해 끊임없는 헌신과 열정으로 적극 앞장서 온 것을 기억합니다. 그리고 이와 같은 에큐메니칼 여정을 회고하고 감사를 드리는 일은 우리에게 큰 기쁨이 아닐 수 없습니다.
지난 10월 인도 코타얌에서 열린 15차 CCA 총회 역시 한반도 화해와 평화 실현을 논의하는 자리이기도 했습니다. 코타얌 총회는 CCA 회원교회와 각 지역 협의회가 각 지역 총회를 통해 한반도 종전평화 캠페인을(Koea Peace Appeal) 비롯한 한반도를 위한 활동을 적극 지지하고 동참해 줄 것을 촉구한 바있습니다.
"생명의 하나님, 사랑으로 만물을 새롭게 하소서!" NCCK 72회 총회의 주제는 매우 시기 적절하며 하나님의 오이코스의 개신과 회복을 교회와 사회에 다시한번 요청할 수 있는 기회이기도 합니다. 에큐메니칼 운동은 하나님의 창조세계를 돌보고 보살피는 청지기적 책임에 각 지역교회와 사회가 경각심을 일깨우고 준비해 나가는 여정에 함께 해야 합니다.
오늘날 우리가 직면한 기후위기와 생태계 파괴에 관한 위기는 우리가 살아가는 현 시대의 결정적인 과제입니다. 지구 온난화, 태풍, 홍수, 가뭄, 산불 등은 많은 국가에서 흔히 발생하고 있으며 전 세계 수백만 명의 삶에 영향을 미치고 있습니다. 아시아도 또한 이러한 재앙에서 예외가 아닙니다. 이와 같은 엄중한 시기, 우리는 창조 세계를 새롭게 하고 회복하는 하나님의 사명에 동참하도록 부름 받았습니다. 우리는 하나님께서는 그분의 백성과 상황을 새롭게 하시고 회복시키실 뿐만 아니라 어떤 위기도 선으로 돌이키시는 하나님이라고 고백합니다.
우리가 마주한 위기의 한 가운데, 하나님께서 개입해 주시기를 계속해서 늘 함께 기도하며 창조세계를 돌보는 하늘의 사명을 공동으로 감당하는 동역자가 되기를 다시 한번 결단합시다. NCCK 72회 총회의 성공적인 개최를 위해 하나님의 풍성한 축복이 여러분 모두에게 함께 하시기를 기원합니다. 감사합니다.

CCA General Secretary’s Message to the 72nd General Assembly of the National Council of Churches in Korea
Esteemed church and ecumenical accompaniers in Korea,
It is with immense joy and privilege that I extend you greetings on this occasion of the 72nd General Assembly of NCC Korea which will be held on 20 November 2023. As the NCCK is preparing to celebrate the founding of its centenary in 2024, it is a matter of great joy for us to recollect and appreciate the ecumenical journey of NCCK, especially the NCCK’s active leadership over the past decades in Korean people’s struggle for democratization, human rights, as well as the sustained efforts of advocacy on peace, reconciliation, and reunification of the Korean peninsula.
The 15th General Assembly of CCA, which was, held recently in Kottayam, India was also an occasion to discuss the issues related to peace and reconciliation in the Korean peninsula. The CCA Assembly in Kottayam urged CCA member churches and councils to participate actively in advocating for the Korea Peace Appeal through their respective constituencies. The theme you have chosen for the reflection in the 72nd General Assembly of NCCK, "God of Life, Restore the Creation by your Love", is very appropriate and it is an opportunity to call for the renewal and restoration of God’s oikos. It is imperative for the churches and the ecumenical movement to alert and equip their constituencies to be engaged in reminding their people and communities about stewardship in caring and upholding the integrity of God’s Creation.
The crisis we face today concerning environmental and ecological degradation is the defining issue of our time. Global warming, typhoons, floods, droughts, and wildfires are common occurrences in many countries that are affecting the lives of millions of people across the world. Asia is not an exception to such devastations. In this situation, we are called to be partners in God’s mission of renewal and restoration of the creation. We believe that God is a God who renews and restores His people and situations, as well as turns around any crisis for the good.
Let us continue to pray for divine intervention to overcome the crisis situations and let us commit ourselves to be partners in God’s mission to care for the creation. I wish you God’s abundant blessings upon you all for successful of the deliberations of the 72nd Assembly. Yours along the journey,
