- * Korean (Above) - English (Below)3월 4주 평화를 위한 기도 8 - 육순종(Youg Soon Jong) 목사, 한국기독교장로회(PROK) 총회장은총의 하나님, 우리를 평화와 통일의 길로 이끄소서. 우리 민족은 고려와 조선을 거치면서 천년동안 하나의 나라였습니다. 그러나 일제 감정기가 끝나면서, 외세에 의해 남과 북이 나뉘었습니다. 나뉘었을 뿐만 아니라, 냉전시대의 대리전 같은 비극적인 한국전쟁을 치렀습니다. 전쟁은 남과 북 모두에게 깊은 상처를 남겼고, 그 상처는 여전히 평화와 통일을 향한 우리의 발목을 붙잡고 있습니다. 주여! 우리의 깊은 상처를 치유하여 주옵소서. 평화의 하나님, 70년 넘는 분단의 세월을 지나오는 동안 크고 작은 평화의 몸짓이 있었습니다. 1972년 7.4 남북 공동성명을 통해 ‘자주, 평화, 민족 대단결’의 통일의 기본원칙을 합의하였고, 1991년 남북기본합의서를 통해 ‘남북 사이의 화해와 불가침 및 교류협력에 관한 합의서’를 작성하기도 했습니다. 2000년 6월에는 평양에서 감격적인 남북정상회담이 성사되고 ‘6.15 공동선언’이 이루어졌으며, 2007년 남북정상에 의한 ‘10.4 남북공동선언’이 채택되기도 하였습니다. 그리고 드디어 2018년 평창 올림픽 이후의 화해분위기에 힘입어 남과 북의 정상이 4.27 판문점 선언을 하기에 이르렀습니다. 그러나 우리가 기대하던 평화의 길은 생각보다 험난하였습니다. 북미정상회담이 이루어지고 새로운 평화의 출구를 찾는 듯 했으나 여전히 한반도는 불확실성에 휩싸여 있습니다. 주여! 우리를 불쌍히 여겨 주옵소서.구원의 하나님, 그동안의 모든 남북공동선언의 기조는 우리 민족의 운명을 우리 스스로 결정한다는 민족 자주의 원칙이었습니다. 이 땅을 살고 있는 주인인 우리가 서로 힘을 합쳐 자주적 통일을 해야 한다는 것이 변함없는 우리의 생각이고 고백이었습니다. 그러나 슬프게도 우리의 분단이 외세에 의한 것이었듯이, 우리의 통일을 향한 길에도 외세의 장벽이 가로놓여 있음을 목격합니다. UN 제재의 틀 안에서 남북관계의 돌파구를 열기 위한 우리 정부의 북한 개별관광시도가 간섭을 당하고, 남북 철도연결사업, 남북교류협력을 위한 비군사적 비무장지대의 출입도 통제당하는 등 여러 가지 어려움을 겪고 있습니다. 하나님, 주변강대국들이 한반도 문제를 자국의 이익에서 바라보지 않게 하시고, 당사자인 남북의 평화와 공동번영의 시각으로 바라볼 수 있게 하여 주옵소서. 무엇보다 남과 북이 어떤 외세의 간섭에도 서로에 대한 깊은 신뢰와 인내를 가지고, 평화와 통일을 향해 용기 있는 걸음을 내딛게 하옵소서. 이 땅의 교회들이 분단극복을 위한 평화의 십자가를 지게 하시고, 분단의 상처를 인해 여전히 갈등하는 남남갈등의 깊은 골을 메우는 평화의 다리가 되게 하옵소서. 주여! 우리를 평화와 통일의 길로 이끄소서. 아멘. Prayer for Peace 8: “To End the Conflict between South and North Korea”- Rev. Youg Soon Jong/ Moderator, The Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea Gracious God,Lead us to peace and reunification! Our nation was once one country over thousand years during the Koryo and Joseon dynasties. However, foreign forces divided North and South Korea at the end of the Japanese occupation of Korea. Our nation is not just divided into two; but it went to war as if it displayed the pattern of the Cold War. The Korean War has deeply damaged both the North and the South, and we are not able to make progress towards peace and reunification because of the deep wounds. Lord, heal our deep wounds! God of peace, In the course of more than 70 years of division, there has been some efforts in the peace process. In 1972, we established the three principles of reunification, 1) independence, 2) peace, and 3) nation-wide unity in the 7.4 South and North Korea Joint Statement. In December 1991, we also signed the Agreement on Reconciliation, Nonaggression, and Exchanges and Cooperation. In June 2000, the historic inter-Korean summit was held in Pyongyang, and the “6.15 Joint Declaration” was made. In 2007, the “10.4 Inter-Korean Joint Declaration” was adopted. Eventually, due to the atmosphere of reconciliation after the 2018 Pyongchang Olympics, the leaders of North and South Korea adopted the 4.27 Panmunjom Declaration. Nevertheless, the path of peace that we expected was more difficult than we thought. Lord, have mercy on us! God of salvation,The foundation of all the South-North joint declarations has been the principle of national independence, which determines our own destiny. We still confess that we are the masters of this land and we have to work together for our self-reunification. Sadly, we see foreign forces on our path to reunification, just as the foreign powers divided our division. Within the framework of UN sanctions, the attempts of the government of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) to break through the inter-Korean relations, including the inter-Korean railroad projects and inter-Korean exchange cooperation have been interfered by the foreign forces. God! Guide the neighbouring powers to seek the interests of the Korean people above their own interests instead! Above all, May the South and the North take courageous steps toward peace and reunification with deep trust and patience in each other in spite of any foreign interference. May the churches of Korea carry the cross of peace, becoming a bridge of peace that fills the deep gaps of the South-South conflict because of the wounds of division! Lord, lead us to peace and reunification! Prayer for Peace 7 'To End the Conflict between South and North Korea'- Metropolitan Ambrose-Aristotle Zographos of the Korean Orthodox Church Most merciful Lord, we confess to You, in a spirit of repentance and contrition, that even though 70 years have passed since the beginning of the catastrophic for our Country civil war, we are still experiencing the drama of the division between North and South Korea, something which is against your Holy Will. Lord, we ask you to forgive us and listen to the voices of your sinful servants praying for the end of the war on the Korean peninsula, so that our hearts and our countries may be once again united. Lord, help us to fully acknowledge that only peace and harmony can safeguard the progress of a nation. Hostility is contrary to the very nature of the human being and Your holy will. - * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 3월 2주 신앙 간증 1, 이산가족의 아픔 - 향린교회 조헌정(Cho Hun Jung) 목사 설교 중에서 우리 국민 가운데 4분지 일이 이산가족입니다. 이 말은 아직도 남북의 수많은 백성들이 자신을 낳아준 어머니나 아버지 그리고 함께 한 밥상에서 밥을 먹고 한 이불을 덥고 자라났던 형제나 자매를 원수라고 부르도록 강요받는 비정상 사회에 살고 있다는 말입니다. 많은 가정들이 남북분단으로 인한 아픔의 사연들을 갖고 있습니다만, 오늘 이 시간에는 유00집사님 가정 얘기를 나누고 싶습니다. 팔순을 바라보는 나이인데도 남북화해운동에 앞장서시는 것은 바로 집사님이 어렸을 때 겪은 비극적인 한 사건 때문입니다. 몇 년 전 한 잡지에 집사님의 인터뷰 내용이 실렸습니다. 일제시대 집사님의 부모는 조선 땅에서는 먹고 살기가 어려워 일본으로 건너갑니다. 원자폭탄이 투여된 나가사키에서 살았는데, 폭탄이 떨어질 때 산에 굴을 파고 숨어 있어 다행히 피해는 입지 않았습니다. 그래 집사님은 나가사키에서 태어나 광복을 맞이해 귀국선을 타고 조선 땅으로 돌아옵니다. 이후 둘째 누이는 남편의 고향인 남쪽 당진에서 살게 되고 나머지 가족은 아버지가 탄광에서 일하게 되어 북쪽 평양 사동에 살게 되었습니다. 그리고 한국전쟁이 터졌습니다. 그때 집사님은 13살이었습니다. 집사님의 회고입니다. “언제나처럼 대동강 옆 개천에서 동무들과 미역도 감고 놀고 있는데, 군복에 총을 메고 우리 쪽으로 군인들이 오는 거야. 국군 간호장교 대위인 여군 한명이 앞서고 남자 호위병 서넛이 카빈총을 들고 뒤따르고 무서웠지. 우리 쪽으로 와서 우리 어머니 집이 어디냐고 물어 보는거야. 자세히 보니 당진에 살던 둘째 누이야. 어이구 이 녀석 많이 컸네. 그러면서 껴안더라고, 반가웠지. 그리고 집에 함께 들어가는데 동네사람들이 무슨 일인가 하고 몰려왔지. 그때 셋째 누이가 둘째 누이 들어오는 걸 봤대. 당시 인민군 간호장교 소좌였던 셋째 누이는 인민군과 함께 후퇴하지 못하고 집에 숨어 살고 있었던 것이다. 셋째 누이는 군의관 장교인 사귀는 남자의 영향으로 인민군 간호장교가 되었고 둘째 누이는 어릴 때부터 나이팅게일을 존경해 국군 간호장교가 되었던 것이다. 우리 엄마가 빨리 숨어라 해서 인민군 누이는 치마저고리를 입은 채로 장롱과 벽 사이 좁은 틈에 숨었지. 혹시라도 장롱 속이 보이지 않게 넷째 누이가 가로막고 있었지. 어머니 아버지는 딸이 오니까 반가우면서도 한편 불안한 거야. 서로 반가워하고 인사하고 있는 와중에 숨어 있던 인민군 누이가 울분을 참지 못하고 뛰쳐나온 거야. 국군 누이를 핏줄보다 적으로 생각했나봐. 죽여 버리겠다고 외치면서 권총을 들고 국군 누이를 향해 겨눴어. 국군 누이는 멍하니 서 있고 뒤에 서 있던 호위병들이 인민군 누이를 향해 총을 겨누었지. 나는 누나들 다릴 붙잡고 엉엉 울었지. 금방 누구라도 죽을 것 같았으니까. 자식들은 울면서 바짓가랑이 잡고 말리고, 어머니는 왜들 그러냐고 통곡을 하면서 절대 방아쇠 당기지 마라. 니들 중 한명이라도 죽는 거 원치 않는다. 당장 총을 내려놓아라 말리셨는데, 그게 어머니 마음이고 우리 마음이었어. 동네 사람들 몇몇은 방에 들어와 있고 문 밖에서 보는 사람도 있고 방 안 상황이 험악했지. 이게 딱 우리 민족의 아픔이고 현실이야. 얼마나 시간이 흘렀을까? 국군 누이가 호위병에게 총을 내려놓으라고 명령했다. 그럴 수 없다고 머뭇거리자 단호하게 재차 외쳤다. ‘당장 내려놓지 못하겠어’그제서야 호위병들이 총을 내려놓았고 인민군 누이도 총을 내려놓았다. 그리고 부모님이 문제를 해결하기 위해 국군 누이에게 말했다. ‘오늘 이일은 없었던 걸로 하고 작은애를 도망하게 하자. 동네사람들도 다 못 본 거다.’국군 누이가 고개를 끄덕이자 인민군 누이는 치마저고리 차림 그대로 뒷간으로 난 쪽문을 박차고 순식간에 사라졌고 그것이 가족이 본 누이의 마지막 모습이었지.“ 그리고 1.4후퇴가 시작했고 국군 누이가 중공군이 몰려오니 내려가자고 했고 그때 같이 갔으면 안전하고 빠르게 피난할 수 있었지만 부모님들은 인민군 셋째 누이를 두고 갈 수가 없어 계속 버티고 버티다가 늦게 피난길에 올랐고 이때부터 이산가족이 된 것입니다. 그리곤 부산으로 피난을 갔는데, 그전까지 부지런했던 아버님은 그때부터 허구한 날 술만 마셨고 어느 날 셋째 누이를 한 번만 보고 죽었으면 좋겠다는 유언을 남기고 돌아가셨습니다. 그리곤 어머님은 메리야스 보따리 장사를 하시다 길에서 쓰러져 돌아가셨습니다. 어머님 또한 셋째 누이를 한번 보고 죽으면 원이 없겠다는 말을 자주 하셨습니다. 그런데 집사님께서는 이런 비극적인 가족사를 안고 있지만, 처음부터 통일운동에 앞장섰던 것은 아닙니다. 집사님은 자신이 변화된 경험을 이렇게 말합니다. “1989년 임수경이 텔레비전에 나오던 때야. 한참 통일바람이 불던 때였잖아. 그때 일하던 중에 우연히 TV를 보는데 임수경이가 ‘우리는 하나다’라고 부르짖고 어릴 때 뛰어놀던 대동강, 모란봉, 평양 시가지가 나오는데 셋째 누이 생각이 나면서 충격을 받았지. 그래서 연세대학교 집회에 한 번 가본거야. 거기서 문목사님이 앞에 나와서 열사들 이름을 하나씩 부를 때, 그 자리에서 회개를 했어. 난 그 전까지 데모하는 학생을 보면 폭도들이라고 했거든. 그날 정말 통곡을 했지. 김도향의 노래 있잖아. <난 참 바보처럼 살았군요> 내가 딱 그런 놈이었어.” * Story of Faith 1, 'Pain of the Separated Family' - From a sermon of Rev. Cho Hun Jung (Hyanglin Church) About one quarter of Koreans have been separated from families since the Korean War. This means that many people of two Koreas still live in an abnormal society where they are forced to treat their parents, brothers, and sisters as enemies. Many families have some stories of the pains caused by the division, but today I want to talk about Mr. Yoo. Even though he is eighty-year-old, he is at the forefront of the inter-Korean reconciliation movement. A tragic incident of his childhood has led him to the path of reunification. A few years ago, indeed, his story was published in a magazine. During the Japanese occupation, Mr. Yoo’s parents crossed over to Japan because they can hardly make ends meet in Chosun (Korea). They lived in Nagasaki, Japan where the U.S. detonated the atomic bombs along with Hiroshima, Japan, but fortunately, they burrowed and hid in a mountain when the bombs fell so they did not harm. He was born in Nagasaki, and he came to Chosun (Korea) on a return ship after Korea gained its independence after 36 years of occupation under the Japanese Colonial rule. One of his sisters lived in Dangjin, South Korea, with her husband, and the rest of our family lived in Sadong, Pyongyang, North Korea where his father worked in a coalmine company. Then the Korean War broke out. At that time, he was just 13 years old. He recalls the tragic incident that happened in his family, As always, when I was playing with my friends in a stream by the Daedong River, a group of soldiers carrying a gun approached us. A female captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea followed by male guards came to us. We were very scared. She asked us where my mother’s home is in the town. Looking closely, I recognised that she is one of my sisters who has lived in Dangjin, South Korea. She said to me by hugging me: “You have grown so much.” I was very happy to see her. So we walked to home together, and neighbours in the town also came to our place as they were curious to see what will happen. Then one of sisters saw that my sister who was the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea stepped in the front yard of our home. At the time, she is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea. She was hiding herself in our place without retreating with the army of North Korea. My sister who is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea became a military nurse officer under the influence of a man who was a medical officer whereas my another sister who is the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea actually became a nurse in honour of Nightingale from her early age. My sister who is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea hid herself in a narrow gap between the dresser and the wall. My younger sister was blocking my sister who is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea. My parents were so happy to see my sister, but at the same time, they were very anxious. While they were greeted each other, my sister who is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea had a lump in her throat and jumped out of the closet. She regarded her sister, who the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea, as an enemy not a family member, grabbing her pistol and aimed at her sister. A guard standing behind my sister who is the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea also aimed the gun at the other sister. I grabbed both sisters’ legs and cried loudly. Anyone seemed to die soon. We were crying together, and my mother also cried and restrained the two sisters from pulling the triggers, saying that she doesn't want any one of my two sisters die. We tried to break up the fight, insisting to put down the guns right now. Some people were in the room and some people looked inside the door. A tense atmosphere reigned in the room. This is the pain and reality of our nation. I don’ know how long it continued in this strange condition. My sister who the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea ordered the guard to put down the gun. But he hesitated that he could not do it. My sister once again called out to put down the gun. Then, the guard put down the gun, and my sister who is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea also dropped the gun. My parents said to my sister who the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea: “Let us consider nothing happen today, and let her run away! Let us also consider this scene has not seen by anyone of our neighbours!” My sister who the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea nodded her head, and my sister who is the head of the nursing officer of North Korea kicked a small door backward and disappeared. That was the last look of my sister. During the 1.4 retreat, my sister who the captain of the Army Nursing Officer of South Korea asked my parents to evacuated to South Korea as the Chinese forces crossed the Yalu and entered the war. If we evacuated together at that time, we could evacuate safely and quickly, but our parents couldn't leave my sister in North Korea, so we continued to hold on to the evacuation route and then eventually became a separated family. My family evacuated to Busan, but my father, who had been a good man until then, drank every day and died, leaving one wish that he could die after seeing my sister the head of the nursing officer of North Korea. My mother died on the street while selling underwear in the market. Before she died, she also used to say that if she died after seeing my sister, then she would have no resentment. His family story is such a tragic history, but he was not interested in the activities of reunification until a moment of personal transformation. He described his experience of transformation in the following way: It was 1989 when Lim Soon-Kyung was on the TV when the atmosphere of unification raised up. While I was doing something, I accidentally watched the TV and was shocked by hearing her saying, “We are one country” and by seeing some nostalgic place my hometown, Daedonggang, Moranbong, and Pyongyang, where I was hanging out with my friends, and then my sister left in North Korea came to mind. I went to a rally held at the Yonsei University. There, when Pastor Moon Ik-Whan came in front and called the names of the activities one by one, and I repented at that very moment. I used to label and explicitly define those students as riots. But I was so touched and moved deeply. Do you know Kim Do-Hwang’s song, “I Lived Like a Fool”? God of life and peace, For those storing up the wounds of division and war, Standing on the brink of despair, Please listen to their prayers, the prayers of the earthworms. As if in a dream, the inter-Korean and North Korea-US summits that have come, For laying the groundwork of the common peace of the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia, Let them become the “Factory of Hope.” May South and North lay down all confrontation and the spears and shields of conflict! Declaring to each other a proclamation of forgiveness, and May the healed and reconciled Korean peninsula stand shoulder-to-shoulder! May the surrounding superpower nations, who love their power, cease the practice of war! - * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 3월 2주 평화를 위한 기도 4 '남과 북이 사이좋게 잘 살면 좋겠어요' - 최현웅(Hyun Woong Choi) 어린이 (강월초등학교) 하나님, 학교에서는 친구들과 사이좋게 지내라고 배우는데 남과 북의 친구들이 사이좋게 지낼 날은 언제쯤 오게 될까요? 요즘 어른들 얘기를 들어보면 북한에 가뭄이 심하대요. 어려울 때 바로바로 도와주면 좋을텐데 그럴 수 없나봐요. 하나님, 왜 도와주는 것을 다른 나라에게 허락받아야 하나요? 남과 북이 힘들고 배고플 때 언제든 서로 도와줄 수 있는 좋은 친구가 되게 해주세요. 남과 북이 하나님의 사랑을 느껴서 다 같이 잘 살면 참 좋겠어요. 그러니 하나님 우리의 기도를 꼬옥 들어주세요. 저희를 도와주실 거죠? 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘. When will the day come when the South and North Korean friends will get along well with each other? Merciful Lord, We are told by adults that the drought is severe in North Korea. It would be great if we could help whenever they need help, but we cannot help. Almighty God, Why do we need to get permission from some other country when we want to help each other? Please help South Korea and North Korea be the kind of good friends that, whenever it is difficult for either of us or whenever we are hungry, we can help each other. I pray that we Koreans in the South and the North learn to live well together in harmony. Lord, help us now! First Week of March Prayer for Peace 3: “Division and Suffering of Separated Families”- Bishop Youn Bo Hwan, Acting President, the Korean Methodist Church Council of Bishops; Moderator, NCCK Lord, We have lived up to now with the sorrows of division and separated families because of the Korean War, which broke out due to the division of ideologies. Loving God, It has been 70 years since the division of the Korean Peninsula, and we, the churches of Korea, call out for your mercy on the divided families. We pray that we may walk the path of reunification, breaking the chains of division. Gracious God, We ask you to make one this divided country and unify the divided families from North and South Korea that yearn to be together. Make us reconcile with one another on the way to peaceful reconciliation! Merciful God, Hear our long-cherished desire of the entire Korean nation to put an end to the history of disgraceful division and now set us free from the chains of hatred. - * Korean (Above) - English (Below) 3월 1주 평화를 위한 기도 2- 로즈마리 워너(Rosemarie Wenner) 주교, 세계감리교협의회(WMC) 제네바 총무 생명의 하나님, 우리는 한반도의 북동쪽 끝 웅기부터 남쪽 제주도 서귀포까지 한반도에 있는 이들을 위해 주님 앞에서 기도합니다. 주님께서는 그들의 이름을 다 아십니다. 주님께서는 지난 수세기 동안의 그들의 고통과 자유와 주권을 향한 갈망을 아십니다. 주님께서는 1950년 시작된 한국 전쟁, 그 때부터 결코 끝나지 않았던 그 전쟁 이후의 그들의 여정을 아십니다. 우리는 한반도에 사는 당신의 백성들과 함께 연대하여 서 있습니다. 우리는 평화와 정의를 위해서, 핵무기와 온갖 종류의 군사적 행동으로 인한 위협이 종식되기를 기도하며, 한반도 주민들의 자기결정권과 미래의 소망을 위해 기도합니다. 세상을 구원하시는 예수님, 우리는 한반도의 북동쪽 끝 웅기부터 남쪽 제주도 서귀포까지 한반도에 있는 이들을 위해 주님 앞에서 기도합니다. 주님께서는 그들의 이름을 다 아십니다. 주님께서는 그들이 마주해야 했던 분단과 모든 불의로 인한 상처들을 아십니다. 가족들이 나누어져 서로의 기쁨과 고통을 알 수 없게 되었습니다. 편견은 우리로 하여금 타인을 두려워하는 쓴 열매를 맺게 하였습니다. 우리는 한반도에 사는 당신의 백성들과 함께 연대하여 서 있습니다. 우리는 이 분단이 종식되기를, 서로를 다시 알아가며 서로 형제, 자매로 인식하게 되기를 기도하고, 화해와 치유를 위해서 기도합니다. 새로운 시작의 원천이 되시는 성령님, 우리는 한반도의 북동쪽 끝 웅기부터 남쪽 제주도 서귀포까지 한반도에 있는 이들을 위해 주님 앞에서 기도합니다. 주님께서는 그들의 이름을 다 아시고, 풍성한 생명과 회복된 관계를 갈망하는 그들을 아십니다. 주님께서는 군대의 주둔과 천연자원의 착취로 인한 세상의 고통을 아십니다. 우리는 한반도에 사는 당신의 백성들과 함께 연대하여 서 있습니다. 우리는 단지 영혼의 치유 뿐 아니라 자연의 치유를 위해서도 기도합니다. 서로를 위하여 또한 어머니인 대지와 조화를 이루며 살아가는 새로운 길을 위해서 기도합니다. 삼위의 하나님, 긍휼과 정의와 평화의 하나님, 우리 기도를 들어주소서. First Week of March Prayer for Peace 2- Bishop Rosemarie Wenner, World Methodist Council, Geneva Secretary God of life, We bring before you the people in Korea, from Unggi in the Northeast to Seogwipo on Jeju Island in the South. You know them by name. You know of their suffering over centuries, their longing for freedom and for self-determination. You know their journey since 1950 when the war began – a war that did not end since then. We stand in solidarity with your people on the Korean Peninsula and we pray for peace and justice, for an end of the threats of nuclear weapons and all kinds of military actions, for the right of self-determination for the people in Korea and for a future of hope. Jesus, redeemer of the world, We bring before you the people in Korea, from Unggi in the Northeast to Seogwipo on Jeju Island in the South. You know them by name. You know of their hurts because of all the injustices and divisions they have been facing. Families divided, not knowing of one another’s joys and pains. Prejudices are bearing bitter fruits of fear of the others. We stand in solidarity with your people on the Korean Peninsula and pray for an end of this division, for ways to get to know one another and to recognize the brother, the sister, for reconciliation and for healing. Holy Spirit, source of new beginnings We bring before you the people in Korea, from Unggi in the Northeast to Seogwipo on Jeju Island in the South. You know them by name in their longing for life in abundance and in restored relationships. And you know of the suffering of the earth because of the military presence and the exploitation of natural resources. We stand in solidarity with your people on the Korean Peninsula and we pray for healing, not only of the souls, but also of the nature and for new ways of living in harmony with one another and with mother earth. - 2020 한반도 희년 세계교회 기도운동 호소문 (A Plea for Participation of 2020 Jubilee Peace Prayer Movement-Light of Peace)
