평화를 위한 기도 13 "한 미국 청년의 기도"

정치적 경계를 넘어 모두를 사랑하는 하나님,
평화는 이해를 필요한다고 가르쳐 주십니다. 우리는 미국에서 자랐고, 우리 자신의 땅에서 전쟁을 경험 한 적이 없습니다. 그래서 우리가 결코 이해하지 못할 것들이 있습니다. 그러나 우리는 너무 오랫동안 무지의 안락함 속에서 살았습니다. 우리 중 많은 사람들이 한반도 이웃 사람들의 삶의 복잡성과 가치를 말이나 행동으로 부정함으로써 당신에게 죄를 지었습니다. 하나님, 한반도의 형제 자매들과 함께 투쟁하고 기뻐함을 통해 하나님께 영광 돌리게 하옵소서.
우리는 평화가 복잡하다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 우리는 미국이 순수한 동기로 행동하지 않는다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 우리는 남북이 복잡한 역사와 사회적 배경을 가지고 있음을 알고 있습니다. 우리가 요구하는 것은 쉽지는 않지만 가능합니다. 하나님, 우리 국가 (미국) 지도자들의 마음을 부드럽게 하시고 그들이 정직하고 개방적으로 서로를 대할 수 있게 하여 주옵소서.
평화는 헌신 없이는 이루이지지 않는다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 우리는 한반도의 평화로운 통일의 진전을 위한 실질적인 행동이 이루어지기를 기도합니다. 우리는 미국이 공식적으로 한국전쟁을 종식시킬 평화조약을 지지하기를 기도합니다. 우리는 미국이 군사력을 가지고 통제와 협박의 도구로 사용하지 않기를 기도합니다. 우리는 미국과 남북 사이에 생산적인 의사소통이 이루어 지기를 기도합니다. 주님, 우리가 이 평화의 사역에 어떻게 참여할 수 있는지 인도하여 주옵소서. 우리 지역과 세계의 공동체들이 협력하여 인식을 확산하고 변화를 이루어 내는 일에 열정을 다 할 수 있게 하옵소서.
우리는 불의가 치유되고 헤어진 가족이 다시 만나며 무기가 내려 놓는 것을 보고 싶습니다. 당신의 자비를 한반도에 베푸시옵소서. 하나님의 아들 평화의 왕의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
Peace Prayer 13 “A Prayer of an American Youth”

God who loves with no regard for political borders,
You teach us that peace requires understanding. We grew up in the United States, and we have never experienced war on our own soil. There are things that we will never understand. But we have lived in the comfort of ignorance for too long. Many of us have sinned against you by denying the complexity and value of the lives of our neighbors on the Korean peninsula by word or deed. God, grant us empathy so that we can walk alongside our Korean siblings in their struggles and their triumphs in a way that honors them and you.
We recognize that peace is complicated. We know that the United States does not act with pure motives. We know that the North and the South have complex histories and social landscapes. What we are asking for is not easy, but it is possible. God, soften the hearts of our nations’ leaders. Let them treat one another with honesty and openness.
We recognize that peace takes work. We pray for tangible actions to advance the progress of the peaceful reunification of Korea. We pray for the United States to support a peace treaty that will officially bring an end to the Korean War. We pray for them to stop using their military as a tool of control and intimidation. We pray for productive communication to open between the US, the North, and the South. And Lord, show us how we can be part of this work of peace. Ignite passion in our hearts, and bless our efforts as we work collaboratively in our hometowns and our global communities to spread awareness and push for change.
We want to see injustices remedied, families reunited, and weapons laid down. We want to see your great kin-dom of compassion come to Korea, Lord. We pray this in the name of your son, the Prince of Peace. Amen.

한국기독교교회협의회(NCCK)는 지난 68회 정기총회에서 “평화를 이루기까지 있는 힘을 다할 것”(시 34:14)을 다짐하고, 한국전쟁 발발 70년을 맞는 올해 2020년을 한반도에서 전쟁을 종식하고 평화협정을 실현하는 “희년의 해”로 선포하였습니다.
이 희년운동의 일환으로 세계교회협의회 (WCC)와 함께 3월 1일부터 8월 15일까지 “한반도평화를 위한 세계기도운동”을 전개하오니, 이번 주부터 매주 보내드리는 기도문 (혹은 신앙간증문)을 가지고 교회와 가정, 직장과 각 자의 삶의 자리에서 이 기도운동에 적극 참여하여 주시기 바랍니다.
